Small is beautiful and the concept became vibrant at Chandeini village during an event of Support My School Campaign. Mewat is an underprivileged and priority district of the Government is now setting up models of holistic development of education through Public-Private Partnerships. Under SRFF’s flagship Programme ‘Mewat Rural Education Programme’ (MREP), the 2nd dedication event of Support My School campaign was organized in Chandeini Government Girls School, Nuh, Mewat, in Haryana. The launch of new facilities in Chadeini Government Girls School under the Support My School Campaign was a milestone for the entire district. The renovation and revitalization works are part of the second season of Support My School campaign jointly implemented by SRF Foundation, NDTV, Coca Cola India, Enrich Agro Food Products Pvt. Ltd., Tetra Pak India, The Department of Elementary Education, Government of Haryana and Mewat Development Agency.
Under the Support My School Campaign, the School has been renovated with many basic amenities and infrastructure such as access to drinking water with installed water tank and water pump, toilets for female students, wash area providing access to clean water, a new library with books and posters to encourage reading and play facilities such as ground leveling, Badminton Court and swings for the younger students.
Chandeini village was lively with the participation of Government Officials, Partners, Teachers, Students, Representatives of SARD and Wadhwani Foundation and Villagers for the multi-stakeholders Programme. Amongst the guests were partners organization representatives Mrs. Surina Rajan, Finance Commissioner and Principal Secretary, School Education, Haryana State; Mr. Suresh, Director General, Department of Elementary Education, Haryana; Mr. Pradeep Godara, ADC, Mewat; Mr. Bhupendra Suri, Vice President, Coca-Cola India; Dr. Suresh Reddy, Director, SRF Foundation; Dr. Kulwant Singh, Regional Advisor, UN Habitat; Ms. Rekha Dhariwal, District Education Officer, Mewat;Mr. Ratan Lal, Sarpanch, Chadeini village and Mr. Jai Bhagwan, HM, Chandeini Government Girls School were present to grace the ceremony. Mr. Parmod Kumar, RTE Coordinator, Department of Elementary Education was the Master of the Ceremony.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Suresh Reddy, Director of SRF Foundation narrated the efforts of Mewat Rural Education Program (MREP) that how the programme is transforming education in this area. He thanked all the partners, stakeholders, Government representatives, NGO representatives, Media persons and villagers for their contributions for the Support My School Programme. The School Management Committee’s Chairman, Ms. Rajan announced the good news that the Chandeini Government School might be expanded till 12th standard, if optimum attendance of 600 girls will be maintained for a fair time span. Mr. Bhupendra Suri, Vice President, Franchise Operations, Coca-Cola India shared the wide perspective of Support My School Campaign around the country for benefitting 350 schools under the Programme. Mr. Bhupendra Suri of Coca-Cola India and Dr Kulwant Singh of UN-Habitat were felicitated with memento for their contributions for the campaign.
