SRF Foundation is the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of SRF Limited; a multi-national company involved in textiles, chemicals, packaging films, and engineering plastics. At the Foundation, we dream of creating a world class platform for sustainable educational transformation, just like our SRF founders envisioned. Both late Sir Shri Ram and late Dr Bharat Ram had believed in contributing back to society through education. To turn our dreams into reality, we run a variety of programs in the field of education.
We established The Shri Ram School (TSRS) in 1988, under the vision of Mrs Manju Bharat Ram, to provide high quality education that includes an excellent teacher-student ratio and the active participation of students and parents. It also caters to children with special needs. There are currently three campuses in New Delhi and Gurgaon. Recently, the school was named the “Best Day School” for the second consecutive year in 2009, in a survey conducted by the Education World Magazine.
Drawing on the wealth of TSRS, we set up the Enhancing Early Education Program (3EP) to train nursery teachers through a six-month course. We aim to create teaching professionals who interact well with children aged 2-6 years old, and make the most out of these precious foundation years.
In the rural areas, we work closely with the government under the Mewat Rural Education Program (MREP) to make holistic improvements in 40 primary and middle schools, spread across 19 villages in Mewat, Haryana. We seek to enhance the quality of the infrastructure, equipment, classroom facilities, curriculum, teacher-student ratio, teaching methods, etc. We engage with 16,000 children and 250 children in this program alone.
Under the Shri Sambadth program, we provide academic services such as training, curriculum designing, learning camps, institutional support etc. to our partners who run educational programs for underprivileged children.
Lastly, we also provide Vocational Skills Training to the unemployed aged 18-30, to create employment opportunities for them as well as to provide skilled manpower to the industry.
Through this blog, we hope to share our experiences working towards these goals, and reach out to institutions and individuals who share our passion and vision. We are ready to collaborate with anyone who believes that every single child – rich or poor – deserves a chance at education.
